In 1999 Richard was involved in an accident that would change his life forever.
On 5th October 1999, Richard was involved in the Paddington Rail Crash in which over thirty people lost their lives.
While other people in Richard's carriage perished, he managed to survive with 23% burns on his body.
Richard was told that because of his injuries he wouldn't be able to return to work in the RAF. Undeterred, Richard made it his mission to return to the RAF and was successful.
Richard has used his experience to help others and has since gone on to help servicemen and women suffering with PTS after combat.
