Lee Rainbow - Behavioural Investigative Advisor
Expertise - Murders and sex crimes
Lee Rainbow leads a team of five criminal profilers at the NPIA (National Policing Improvement Agency), and specialises in sex crimes and murders.
Lee's job involves behavioural crime scene investigation - so quite unlike a forensic crime scene investigator who looks at the way in which the blood splattered and where the bodies are positioned. Lee looks at the behaviours behind the crimes, such as how the victim got there, what happened, what does it say about the offender - building up a profile of the type of person they are looking for. He uses a variety of approaches using investigative DNA and screening. Lee says the best thing about his job is "catching a baddie", but the downside is that it is "bleak". He finds it especially hard working on crimes that involve children.
Serial Killer Season starts Monday 13th June from 9pm
